Two and a Half Men Not Submitted for Emmy Consideration

Five months after production on Two and a Half Men was suspended, the long-running sitcom has been taken out of the running for a Best Comedy Emmy.

Deadline.com reports that the long-running series -- nominated three times previously -- was not submitted for the Best Comedy category this year. Citing an anonymous source at the show's production company, Warner Bros., Deadline says the show was not submitted due largely to the controversies that surrounded its one-time star, Charlie Sheen.

While the series has been retooled in the time since production ceased in January (after one of Sheen's benders sent him to the hospital), it is still unclear when it will re-enter production with new star Ashton Kutcher.

Sheen -- who is forging ahead with his $100 million lawsuit against creator Chuck Lorre -- was not submitted by his representatives for personal consideration by the Emmys' April 29 deadline, but an Emmy rules loophole may offer him the opportunity to serve as a write-in candidate.
