Here?s Jennifer Mahar, parks network coordinator for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, helping to get ready for PHS Pops Up!, which opens at 3pm today at 20th and Market Streets. PHS Pops Up! is ?a temporary garden of vegetables, herbs, grains and flowers to showcase the work of City Harvest, which provides fresh produce for underserved residents. Six of the city?s finest chefs will create special dishes using the garden?s bounty and donate proceeds back to City Harvest. The PHS Pops Up Garden features an exhibit of sustainable gardening originally created for the 2011 Philadelphia International Flower Show by Temple University Ambler staff and students.? Chefs Daniel Stern (R2L), Guillermo Tellez (Square 1682), Chris Scarduzio (Table 31), Michael Schulson (Sampan), Marcie Turney (Barbuzzo) and Lynn Marie Rinaldi (Paradiso) will also be on hand to provide samples of their locavore best. The mayor and the ladybugs will just be hanging out, goldbricking as usual.
