SPARWOOD, British Columbia, Sept. 11 (UPI) ? Kidnapped toddler Kienan Hebert was safely returned Sunday morning to his Canadian home, police said.
The 3-year-old?s family had made a plea to suspected abductor Randall Hopley on Saturday, after the boy was abducted Wednesday, the Canadian Postmedia News reported.
They were staying with friends when police received a call that the child had been left at the Heberts? empty home in Sparwood, B.C.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said he had never seen a kidnapping outcome like this in his 26 years of police work, the report said.
?We can confirm that 3-year-old Kienan Hebert is safe and sound and alive. He appears to be in good general health. I truly want to smile about this because it?s not very often that these types of things happen in these types of investigations, frankly,? he said.
Hopley is still missing and Moskaluk has asked him to get in touch. Police are stopping vehicles going in and out of Sparwood, checking trunks and compartments for any signs of the man.
The Postmedia News report does not make it clear how Hebert was kidnapped or if there was any relationship between Hopley and the boy?s family.
